Working in a busy team for an established Insurance company in Winchester, the Insurance Consultant is an integral part of the company. You will enjoy a competitive salary, full training and excellent company benefits.

The company has been established for 40 years and provide low cost quality insurance solutions. As we insure thousands of clients we are able to use bulk-buying power with many insurer partners to keep premiums as low as possible.

As the Insurance Consultant you will be responsible for:
 

  • Providing support to personal lines clients to ensure conversion of new business
  • Selling, advising and arranging personal line/Motor/Home/Travel Insurance
  • Respond to enquiries from clients, brokers and underwriters.
  • Complete the key task of “fact finding” to identify clients’ requirements and to provide a quotation to fulfil their needs. 
  • Using the information gathered, determine which Insurers will provide the most competitive rates for the covers required.
  • Obtain quotations, using quotation system, insurer extranets or by referring to insurance companies.
  • Discuss any “additional” covers to ensure that all insurance requirements are satisfied.
  • Issue invoices or receipts and policy documents and update client records.
  • Validate details of any policies purchased online (via company website and price comparison websites) to ensure that information provided by client is correct and policy purchased is suitable.
  • Maintain the system for raising renewals. Manage the departmental diary system and produce renewal documentation.
  • Ensure that the system records are created for new business and updated following all client contacts.
  • Liase with accounts department to ensure that credit control rules are followed and that cash flow objectives are achieved.
  • Chase and receive payments. Issue receipt documents and send renewal documents.
     

The successful candidate for the role of Insurance Consultant will have:

  • Good proven sales skills and advisory
  • Ideally a previous Insurance or Financial Services background
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain professionalism working in a busy environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Confidence to deal with difficult situations and to know when appropriate seek guidance from managers
  • Good team working skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.


In return the Insurance Consultant will receive a basic salary £18k-£27k depending on experience and a monthly bonus. You will receive 20 days holidays plus 8 bank holidays. The hours are 8.30am to 17.30pm Monday to Friday and some Saturday mornings 8.30-12.00 on a rota basis. The company is based in Winchester city centre.
